Who is St Jude Thaddeus?
St Jude Thaddeus was a nephew of Mary and Joseph, and a cousin of our Lord. He was a brother of the Apostle James the Less.
Historians say that he was likely a farmer, and that he could have even been the groom at the wedding at Cana, as he was likely Jesus’s cousin, the son of Clopas.
In his boyhood and youth Jude must have known Jesus well. He left all to follow the Master and became one of the 12 apostles of Jesus.

It was in fact Judas Iscariot, not St Jude Thaddeus, who betrayed Jesus. The confusion came about as Saint Jude’s official name was Judas the Apostle or Judas Thaddeus in the Gospel of John.
It had since been changed to Jude to avoid confusion with Judas Iscariotas.
